To be fair, it’s a lot easier to just run into the forest and Be A Fox than it is to be all “what if I just joined a lion pride I’m sure that will go over okay.” There are underwater “avalons” that are basically this, though. No human interaction at all.

(edit: this was supposed to be Wednesday’s post, but I scheduled Questions 118 and 119 for the wrong days, oops!)

To what level do instincts play a role in mythic being’s behavior? Does Lorne have feline habits like napping in sunbeams, sharpening claws, and tendency to pounce on things? Will he chase a laser dot (I can totally see Jim teasing Lorne with one)? Does he like catnip?

How often do those living in the Liverpool Avalon get the chance to run around in full form? Any new-agey “get in tune with your true self” full-form-only sabbatical trips or the like?

Are there any instances in which being in full form is considered impolite?

I think if wild animals suddenly had human brains, they’d find our society a lot more fun than theirs for the most part. Do you really want to live in a hole and eat small rodents instead of enjoying a nice restaurant meal, raising a couple at the nearby pub with your friends, and curling up on an inner-spring mattress in a warm, safe room?

Well to quote Douglas Adams, “…on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons”
