I haven’t decided if Skin Deep angels have “true forms” or anything, but that’s not gonna stop me from drawing some horrible Evangelist-inspired monster angel, though! So we see Mikhail “One Fear” Grimm here imagining it.

Movies: Angelic beings of light.
Bible: SO MANY EYES! AND WINGS! AND HEADS! RINGS! MOAR EYES! FIRE!
Everyone else: O.o;

Gabe’s “true form” would depend largely on which “choir” of angels he belonged to. There were at least seven choirs described in the Bible (and potentially more).

For example, the highest tier of angels consists of the Seraphim, Cherubim, and Ofanim. The Seraphim appear as fiery six-winged beings (only two of the wings are used to fly; the others are used to cover the face and feet). The Cherubim have four faces: one of a man, an ox, a lion, and an eagle (later adopted as the symbols of the four evangelists). They have four conjoined wings covered with eyes, a lion’s body, and the feet of oxen. The Ofanim appear as wheels of fire (they were described in Ezekiel’s vision of the chariot in Ezekiel 1:15-21).

Just because he has four wings, however, does not necessarily mean that Gabriel is a Cherub. (Today’s sketch depicts all three: A seraphim, a cherub, and two ofanim.)

Reminds me of a comedy sketch someone told me about. It was on a radio program, like an off-brand Prairie Home Companion. (Which was the greatest radio show in modern times.) It went like this:

Biblically correct looking angel appears before primitive humans: Be not afraid.

Humans: *screams of utter terror*

Angel: I said be not afraid!

Humans: *more screaming*

Because yeah, angels are horrifying if you read what they’re actually supposed to look like. All eyes and fire and too many limbs.

Do rat kings exist in Skin Deep?

Asked this before, but right before the end of the last round of Q&A was over, so sorry if its a repeat, but I’m just really curious how that sort of critter would work (or not) with the amulet system.

…Apparently Gabe is a “high order” angel.

Or a holy abomination (that’s all three weirdest orders combined into one! Are they supposed to be God? Some kind of gem fusion? Probably not, but its still a serious case of “what am I even looking at”)

Not going to lie though, that’s actually really pretty. :)
