It’s Anthony and Blanche guest week by Sfé R. Monster! If you don’t already follow Sfé’s work, now’s a great time! They have a Patreon full of incredible art and comics!
Anthony’s has molted a couple times and each time he experiments with how many feathers on which arm he needs to remove to get the right amount of movement in his wrists without also knocking over ever single item around him. This is much more important than flying, to him.

In the few years since finding out he was a harpy, has Anthony shown any interest in harpy culture?
Oh I love Sfé’s style! Very cute!
Given he’s still stuck in the Avalon flying doesn’t really seem like it would be that enticing. You have pretty limited space (both horizontal and vertical). Doesn’t seem like it would be super fun.
And now I’m just imagining the pure psychological horror of that first molt. What else does his body do now?!
I’M picturing refledging; that must itch worse than anything in the *world*– all those pinfeathers growing back in!
I wondered about the guitar v flying thing, given his lack of enthusiasm for flying and anxiety around playing during his earlier story arc.
Honestly that feels like a good plan for Anthony. He’s getting used to his new form, getting used to the feathers, and used to moving with them. If a day comes he IS ready to try and fly, he’ll be used to the feathers and not knocking everything over. When he first Turned, he had gone from NO feathers and suddenly he had not only feathers but LONG feathers. That’s quite the appendage adjustment to make!
I like the difference in feathers from one arm to the other– when you reshape your anatomy to fit what you love the best to do, that’s pretty serious. Looks good, too, graceful.
