Much more interesting, I’d say!
You could also have gone with the original Irish werewolves. They were healers! That way people can still have their werewolves, but it’s not the offensive stereotype created by western religions.
Actually, a movie came out a few years ago based on the old Irish mythology, called Wolfwalkers. (TW: There’s a character based on Oliver Cromwell.)
It makes for very funny situations too! A critter that appears as a minor character in a grand total of one historical tale, a modification of another modification of a lesser known Arthurian legend? That’s recurring character material of course, with at least one more mentioned by name. But no trace of the mythical beings that appear more in the mythology of the same nation, and if you want werewolves, aliens, and what not? Forget it, everyone knows those don’t exist you dummy!
Nothing against the comic of course, I’ve never seen another story use this mythology and it’s genuinely refreshing to see! It’s just funny to me in a good way :>
