Telling everyone you’re a dragon is just like putting a big target on your back saying “I am too dangerous to live” so yeah, most reptilian and amphibian creatures would not be keen to associate themselves with dragons, especially right after the Great War.

It’s a con. You claim to be “good at what you do”. You don’t claim you’re “the world’s best individual in this field” because then folks will either call your bluff or end you before you begin. Unless you ARE the world’s greatest individual in that field, but at that point, that’s not a con; that’s just your job.
I probably should have guessed…
What would happen if a medical chimera who was also an unturned were to touch a medallion ?
A medical chimera is someone (or an animal, it is not rare for cat to be chimeras of more than two individuals) whose body include cells with two different genetic , either because a fetus absorbed his or her fraternal twin, or simply from organ transplant.
Specifically, if the mythic specy is linked to the genetics, what would the turning of a being made from unturned of two distinct but compatible species (eg two types of gryphons) ?
what would happen if a medallion bearer were to receive a transplant ? or medical implants ?
I imagine this is simply how you would get a hybrid creature, Like Ike
For some reason I doubt getting a new kidney would cause one’s core species to change.
Uuuhhhhh the chimera/transplant situation IMHO promises to be a bottomless barrel of biochemistry vs. wizardry worms … 8-C
Medical implants, on the other hand, are usually designed to not interact at all with the recipient’s biochemistry, by being made of / covered with inert materials like titanium steel, ceramics etc. – read, your dog can get an artificial hip somewhat just like your grandma can, and a mythical likely can, too.
Of course, if you’re given, e.g., a pacemaker and your fullform has only a third the heartbeat rate of a human, things can still get interesting … :-3
(… especially when you go to a human cardiologist for a checkup and he has a close look at the data the pacemaker recorded …)
(Ooops, sorry. Should’ve been a reply to W..)
Are the species that dont have medalions in danger of extinction due to lack of genetic diversity? for example bandersnatches seem to be unique to wonderland and as such their population has to fairly small
Hey people!!!!!
Good mood and good luck to everyone!!!!!
On the plus side, according to the lore, a salamander WOULD be fire-proof, so they’d have less to fear from the dragons, at least.
A salamander would also be safer from accidental laboratory fires, as well. (That’s a good thing, considering some of what alchemists might handle.) If the salamander has any control over the fire and not just immunity to it, safety for the neighbors may also be increased!
They are said to be so cold that they can extinguish fire with their body (possibly by absorbing the heat as nourishment.)
Look he’s just a little guy. Let him titrate in peace.
Do gryphons like to argue with other mammal/bird hybrids about whether or not they are gryphon variants?
