The Liverpool Avalon is the Spiders Georg of Avalons, most of them are single shops scattered about rural areas, very few are whole streets or full cities like the Liverpool Avalon.

How did Avalon come to be the common term for these places? Is it related to British colonialism? Are there other, possibly more regional, terms for these spaces where non-English languages are still dominant?
Does Dogpatch count as more of a ‘town’-sized Avalon?
It’s like two buildings, with like 4-ish people. That’s not a town, regardless of the amount of empty space it contains.
OK, not commenting on todays post specifically, but I must say this is probably th eonly webcomic hiatus that I’m actively enjoying. Thanks!
Any Valravn running around in Skindeep still?
They’re kinda like Norwegian gryphons, but raven + wolf creatures that can fly extremely fast at night, and turn into knights… but only if they get to drink human blood or eat human hearts.
There are a fair few dead malls and abandoned big box stores dotted around the US. I wonder how practical it would be to set up Avalons in any of those. The main problems would be outsiders seeing the comings and goings, especially by vehicles, and dealing with urban explorers, bored local kids, and unauthorised scrap salvagers. One possible route:
Kid: Yeah, I remember the mall closing, then someone bought the place just to open up the cinema again. It’s just the cinema entrance open now, the rest of it’s boarded up tight. They mostly show old stuff, but it’s real cheap to get in. Opens pretty late, too. And Sundays. I guess it’s pretty popular… there’s always a lotta people parked up in the lot.
Kid’s cousin: It’s prolly a good makeout spot. Bet that’s why it’s popular.
Kid: Heh! Bet you’re right.

“It’s amazing how this car wash in the middle of nowhere still has customers every now and then.”
“Yeah, pity that they had to close that ex-mall’s underground parking due to structural problems. That and the metro stop over there would rake in a lot more customers for them. ‘Valet park+ride with a wash’!”
“… dude, didn’t that pink-and-yellow van just coming outta the washing tunnel go into the other end some four hours ago!?”
There are also a few disused warehouses, of various sizes, scattered about. But nowadays having the neighbors notice clandestine traffic to and from a “vacant” warehouse could start rumors and speculation of illegal activity of one sort or another. It might even result in a police raid.
So, what are the options for fooling the authorities, or would infiltration be the better choice?
What do you think would happen if the world learned about the existence of mythicals and magic?
very cool! I wonder in a more modern Skin Deep story if online digital avalons would ever take off? if there would even be a point to such a thing. Could be a resource directory if nothing else.

Probably just come across as an Otherkin role-playing board where people sell cool merch.
There are, however, a lot of semi abandoned were houses and industrial plants in various industrial parks, that could easily accommodate a village or town sized Avalon. In fact, connecting a number of these buildings with tunnels, (which in some countries, would be steam and utility tunnels) would allow cities sized Avalon’s s to exist on the outskirts of cities and towns.
To be honest, abandoned strip clubs band bars would seem to be a.goid location for Avalon shops.
