In all seriousness if a place like this existed you can be sure nobody’s letting that secret slip/they’re so secluded they never interact with the wider world.

Honestly this feels like the most likely explanation for where the majority of mythics in the world are hiding, likely with comparable numbers to Avalons. We even have at least two soft examples in-universe already with that one ranch and the island of harpies. Avalons only exist when mythics can pass as human, which… yeah, kinda difficulty for most of the world. And the “live in a cave” solution isn’t a solution at all, since that’s literally the source of like 90% of monster-slaying legends.
There’s also technically Unawakened, but that’s more or less limited to Europe, North Africa, and the Middle-East(plus places people from those regions migrated to).
Legends of hidden villages populated by fae, spirits, tengu, etc line up very well with such a thought as well, and would probably be the majority for regions that never gained access to Medallions(Americas, Sub-Saharan Africa, East Asia, etc).
About the World Wars, what did mythicals do about those?
Hid in Avalons / took part on wars/ other more creative answer?
Draft dodging is probably pretty easy when you live inside a mirror or such, yeah. To be fair.
I think someone did an rpg campaign about Skin Deep in ww2.
Remote Siberia wouldn’t be the only place. There are still indigenous people deep in the Amazon rainforest that are relatively untouched.
Your copyright line indicates that some of my favorite characters (e.g. Alec Hyde) and a lot of the subplot characters are made by other artists. Can you tell us more about these partnerships? Did the other artists create the characters for this world, or are they adopted from another context? Who came up with the stories they’re in?
For Kory: What inspired you to start a web-comic and where did the idea of a hidden mythical society come from?
There are villages where people grew living bridges using living vines, roots and patience. Usually in really remote places, though a couple (at least one) seem to have become tourist attractions.
Could some of those villages actually have been Avalon’s or Avalon Outposts that have opened themselves up to the human world? Or have once been people living in harmony with Mythical Society, with the living-bridges starting as the pet project of someone who lived for centuries before other’s copied them? I mean, the alternative effectively is “Humans do weird things” and “Long-term patience without destruction is rewarded”.
I did a double take when I read your name, Its super close to my legal name I thought autofill outed me lol
you are the first person I’ve ever seen with a name that close to mine
This is my internet/video game name. I chose it early on in childhood, after moving away from ones like “Dragon” and wanting an actual name for my characters, while still liking dragons.
How does the Liverpool Avalon handle overpopulation?
The other possibility is that they become a local myth/tourist attraction and no one really believes they actually exists until they run into them at 2am when they are going for a beer run. ie how bigfoot apparently now lives in my city.
I find it amusing that the youngster who was eagerly anticipating the acquisition of *Thumbs!!* grumbles about having to pretend to be human when it’s time to do homework.
