I do most of my research online these days but this book was the gateway drug for getting me into mythical creatures. I made the first version of Michelle after seeing the Grecian sphinx in this book.
Anthrocon is tomorrow! The theme is CRYPTIDS so you know I’m all about that. Come see me and Moth Monarch at tables K01 and K02!

Oh, man, Dover coloring books. My sisters and I grew up on those in the ’70s — and their Sci Fi coloring book introduced me to things like First Men in the Moon and Dune.
So glad they’re still around, corrupting new generations.
Anytime I discovered one of the Dover books in Roses or Walmart, I did NOT stop pestering my mom until she bought it. I never colored in them, though, but would draw from or even trace the pics.
Holy shit deep core memory unlocked, I was also obsessed with this thing as a kid
OMG, I still have that book hanging around somewhere. I did color it- paint, colored pencils, the works. All super carefully.
OMG, I had that same book.
I loved it, and not just because of the “scandalous” toplessness of some of the creatures.
