Ick. Wet wool….

Something I discovered from four years of wearing a wool band uniform in high school…
Wool is good at repelling water, UP TO A POINT.
Once it gets saturated, it gets really heavy, really fast.

The USAF issues (or, at least, used to issue) wool overcoats as part of the dress blue uniforms (as opposed to the green “fatigue” work clothes). The care label explains that the coat does its best job of repelling water when it is CLEAN.

It actually makes a big difference.
