2026 Reader Questions! Ask them here!

2026 Reader Questions! Ask them here! published on 32 Comments on 2026 Reader Questions! Ask them here!

Skin Deep is on hiatus until August! Until then, every weekday I’ll be posting a Reader Question! These first reader questions were asked by my Patrons, and if you’re a patron you can ask your questions there! I read those before I read the ones here, but I ultimately pick my questions based off of “what would be most fun to draw” so you can also ask them here!

*Polishes the gryphon-ator until I can see my face in it* Back in business, baby! ;D

Ahem~

Two of Florida’s invasive species are, unsurprisingly, feral stray cats and eurasian collared doves (the pigeonest pigeons that ever pigeoned); honestly, you can’t walk 1 block without spooking a flock (clowder. Flowder?) of either. What would the gryphon-ated lovechild of such a forbidden union look like, oh great grypon-ator?

… Oh, wait, there’s a children’s book about this already, and I read it as a kid. Oops. “Catwings” by Ursula K. Le Guin. Yeah, just do fan artwork of a children’s book published back in 1988. :V

If you’ve studied English folklore as extensively as I think you have, you’ve probably read about the Questing Beast in Arthurian lore. Head of a serpent, body of a leopard, tail haunches of a lion, feet of a hart.

I’d be interested to see your interpretation of that.

Is transforming in skin deep like Animorph rules? Is there Z-space?

Has there ever been a suddenly new species that pops up?

Is AI, devil that it is, actually kinda good for the mythical community in that they could now dismiss all evidence as AI (I know this is set well before it, but still curious lol)

I, and everyone else here, could probably point to every page in the 1800s “The Birds of America” and want to see a griffin of it (side note: a 50 page state bird/state animal griffins zine would be cool. If that hasn’t already been done and I just didn’t notice… sorry got sidetracked)

But long before the naturalists illustrated accurate depictions of things they actually saw, in the real world we had the illuminators of the middle ages pretending they had ever seen a beaver or a hippo. But if Wonderland can be an actual place in Skindeep, could those Medieval Unfortunate Beasts be in an Avalon too?

Food and baby gryphons. How do mothers feed their new born? Beaks mean no milk even for the live birth(wince). And even if they are now using cutlery, do they have the ability to regurgitate? Do baby gryphons have the reflex to open wide and scream their hunger?

Have you ever done a bittern gryphon? If not, I would love to see a giant anteater/bittern gryphon with a really long neck in place of the anteater’s long snoot.

Unrelated, but are tatzelwurms a thing in your world, and if so, do they have medallions or are they considered monsters?

Idk how to phrase this as a question, but I learned about the wiwaxia today and it made me think of you, the most paleolithic artist I know

They’re wee creatures (we think about 2 inches maximum) from the cambrian with rows of spines sticking out of the top, they were covered in armor, and they had one foot like snails and slugs

Wiwaxia didn’t grow the spines until maturity, so juveniles had no spines and teenagers had a silly awkward phase when their spines were growing in

And apparently these little guys were iridescent!!

Because iridescence is a physical structure thing! Scientists have looked at their fossils with fancy microscopes and determined that they were probably glimmering along the ocean floor <3

But tragically, none of the art I’ve found of them so far reflects this!! :(

So, if you could draw a beautiful iridescent little wiwaxia, it would make me really happy :3

I was wondering what it would look like if someone from the alterhuman community (Therian, Otherkin, etc) somehow ended up in one of the avalons.

Are alterhumans even a thing in the Skin Deep Universe?

(This is a repost of my question since I can’t seem to locate the original one and this seems like the proper place to ask anyway)
