Don’t know if this has been asked before:

Are there any clades of mythicals that say “screw society” and go off to live basically as an animal in the wilderness?

If Wonderland is basically its own magical pocket dimension and only accessible via special gates (mirrors etc), does that mean that anyone or anything living there is effectively trapped there as well if they can’t reach a gate?
We know that Elinore has left Wonderland behind and lives in Liverpool, but she has access to a gate through the Finns. Would the other bandersnatches be allowed to leave Wonderland if they wanted to?

This leads to another thought: if the magic of Wonderland basically created the uncommon mythical creatures/beings that live there (jubjub birds, mock turtles, dodos, cheshire cats, white rabbits, bandersnatches, etc) does leaving that sphere of magic harm or weaken them? It has been established in the comic that proximity to magic or a powerful magical being can affect those nearby (example: the Finn “curse” only popping up again when Ravi is around). Is it the same for Wonderland?

Why are people wary of monsters like bandersnatches when they should really be terrified of heraldic swans and geese instead?

Folks aren’t really -wary- of bandersnatches, since they’re mostly harmless. Aside from the habit of breathing fire when speaking.

They’re more concerned, I think, because they can’t wear medallions or shapeshift. So if there’s an accidental ‘non-aware’ human running across one, there’s no way to hide it.

No, yhey’re wary. Go back to the Wonderlanf chapters of Obverse and Reverse, especially the last. Look at how Mary and Roald talk about the adult bandersnatches. People tolerate Eleanor to an extent (after she spent years being feared and ostracized), but that’s because she’s not like THEM. She’s obe if the Good Ones.
