What happens to the unborn baby, when a pregnant woman transforms with a medallion?
As I understand it, this has been somewhat answered before. If both parents are the same or compatible species then the mother can choose which form to stay in for the duration of the pregnancy (full human vs full-form mythical), and I’m pretty sure they must stay in the chosen form the whole time. If the mother choses a human form the child will be born appearing human.
If the mother chooses their mythical full form then the child will be born the same. Dr Hobbs mentioned in another AMA of a desire to encourage Nemean lion couples to conceive cubs in human form because of how destructive full-form born Nemean cubs are.
I’m not sure if the same rules apply for mid-forms.
If the parents are incompatible species then the only way to have a child together is in their human forms. The child will be born human under the same magical shield as their parents and will have to acquire a medallion for themselves once they are a bit older.
How do fay work in the Skin Deep world? We’ve seen Lily who’s a glaistig, but what about other fay mythical creatures, like the Cat-sìth and Cù-sìth? Do they need medallions?
Well of course they wouldn’t tell you what they are. Takes all the fun out of it, after all.
Well, we already know that Bugbears can’t pretend to be smaller than they actually are. We know that because Alec was stating that a whole bunch of music artists were actually just Bugbears in disguise, and Isaac countered with the fact that there’s no Bugbear as thin as one of the Artists.
That is the only rule we’ve been made aware of. Bugbears can’t pretend to be the Shining Children, no matter how unsettling you find them.
