The smallest whale is the dwarf sperm whale and the second-largest penguin is the king penguin (I didn’t go with emperor penguin because their territory doesn’t overlap with the dwarf sperm whale), so this is the closest I can get to a whale/penguin gryphon where the proportions wouldn’t be completely out of whack.
Although now that I’m looking at it, I realize I should have given it flipper wings on its back and little grabby penguin feet for hands so it would fit with the rest of my gryphon layouts. Oops! It’s been a busy week, okay?

Chiropteryph time! Vampire ground finch + Hairy-legged Vampire bat. They’re both vamps and both from Central America.

Much rather see workdbuilding or character questions than a cavalcade of gryphon requests.
Good thing the rest of us are enjoying this a lot and not rudely whining at the author/artist when they decide to take a break and have a little fun, huh? Yeah, I think so.
I’m happy for Kory to get rest. But once we fall down the gryphon hole, it ends up just being people demanding different gryphon permutations ad nauseum. And I think fans taking genuine interest and asking Kory about themself or the comic or the world is much more interesting and respectful than “Draw for me, monkey! Draw my specific bird/mammal!”
If bats are an option like Sophie says, why not a Moa and a long-tailed bat? New Zealand’s big bird and something small that actually flies could make for an interesting combo

I’ve developed a love for puffbirds recently… how about a Pied Puffbird and a fairy armadillo gryphon?
Images of puffbirds in the wild don’t do justice to the HUGE amount of puff they develop when you have them in hand. They just get so round.
What would giraffe and secretary bird look like?
