There seems to be some confusion with bugganes and their hooves, but they can shapeshift into mundane humans AND mundane horses and anywhere in between. Sometimes hooves are better than floppy fins.

In the line of “werewolves is just bugbears” are there any cryptids that are the same thing or mistaken for each other? There’s a water-monster that gets offerings of cucumber, noxx, azihutl, sirens… There’s an African water-horse that’s definately not a buggane. Now I can’t remember what a kelpie is.
