The page is FULL of familiar faces! And I see Eleanor’s butt and tail!
Looks like a couple manticores might get medallions? Ooooh, this is excit-
Wait wasn’t that Satyr lady just downstairs? That answers who went up ahead of Sunglasses at Night! Also this appears to, in fact, be an entirely enclosed room above the main club with no other way in or out, fascinating!
She was but on the previous page you can see her go upstairs before the mystery man. very easy to miss! Also mystery man may be following Ike!
I’m guessing that Curly-Horn went to the bar to get that pitcher of beer that’s on the table.
It still breaks my heart how skin and bones those two are T^T
Is that Greg with a beard
Greg’s on zhe ozher side of zhat guy next to Merial.
Where’s Michelle, though? **worried**
The fact that Michelle’s friends, especially Greg, don’t seem worried suggests to me that we don’t need to worry about her. Wonder? Speculate? Theorize? Sure.
Good point.
Huh, feels weird seeing a yinglet outside of the fediverse or enclave discord.
Hey buddy. Tou’re probably young but it’s really mot appropriate to carry funny typing quirks across spaces. It’s fine in the fandom you’re referring to, where everybody gets the joke and is primed to ‘translate’, but when you go outside those circles you’re more liable to cause confusion and communication issues.
Doesn’t hurt anyone, and I don’t mind it. It’s like those jokes in movies. It adds a layer. If u get it, u get it. If not, eh. It’z just a funny shade of chartreuse! In today’s world, a little whimsy don’t hurt.
Never mind. I see it now.
Greg with a beard? And where is Michele?
And I see that the council of Elders is taking advantage of the pub.
The change of focus is surprising. Will we know who is that stranger we followed since the beginning?
I’m sure we will. It’s not unusual in Kory’s writing for the focus to shift to other characters doing things in the background. In Exchanges it happened constantly, and we got closure on every character whose arc was being explored.
These crowd scenes and interiors are amazing. Wow. I’m just appreciating the background, gorgeous work.
I agree, this is a wonderful room; is it simply called the dining room? Part of its purpose seems to be providing a place for tables and booths and leaving more space for a larger dance floor.
There are familiar faces on this page than unfamiliar faces:
Merial & Greg are sitting across a table from Jimothy & Lorne, and Greg is as fully bearded as he was on the promo page.
Elders Uisdean Carter, Grass of Parnassus, and Barnaby Brimble are sharing a table.
Curly-Horn ( the satyr who just came upstairs) is there with the “human” wife who’s probably a fawn.
Paulbert and Jon are chatting with a human newby(?)
Margot Rosenbaum(?) is chatting with a human newby (?) who looks almost like one of the guys who were passed in on page 2.
Eleanor is sharing a table with a human newby(?)
And, of course, Ike is sitting down with “Statler” & “Waldorf”.
That was “/more/ familiar faces than unfamiliar”.
Must be hard for those two. From what I’ve seen in reader questions they can only get by by busking in the musical language of Manticorsi.
It must be. It makes me wonder at the, can we please start this interview…” Band interview?
So, most of the major players accounted for except Michelle plus confirmation Mr. Sunglasses is not Paul, Jon, Lorne or Ike. Could be someone new or it could be someone we just haven’t seen in human form.
My bet was on Jon, since they look a lot alike, but that’s out the window now. This just makes me more curious.
I’ve already said it below, but I think it’s Bloodcarver. Cigarette, moustache that mirrors his whiskers, jacket pattern mirrors his scale plates.
I’m assuming that he’s headed to Ike’s table, and that the Manticores are being interviewed by Ike as potential medallions candidates. Because if you’re making new medallions, wouldn’t you want to:
A. Give them to the ‘monsters’ most negatively affected by not having medallions, and
B. Give them to ‘monsters’ that have shown that they aren’t going to be sting-y or bite-y, because they’ve been in the Avalon long enough to prove that they aren’t malicious.
C. Not have the medallion-maker (Michelle) in the room when candidates are interviewed.
The more candidates that get knocked out, the more I assume that Sunglasses must be a medallion-ed Bloodcarver.
Possibly on his way to join the interview and tell the Manticores about his medallion-ing experience.
This avalon has come a long way if they’re letting manticores in. What could they be interviewing Ike for?
They’ve been seen inside the avalon before. And I think it’s Ike interviewing them. No idea what for though. I don’t think there’s a non-human newspaper or magazine for him to could work for. Maybe he just want to learn more about his Manticore side?
According to the indexed avalon diagram in the print/PDF Exchanges, there is a print shop (named Duerer; as in Albrecht?) churning out stuff like band posters and a small newspaper. But no, I don’t think that’s what this is about.
Those are Statler and Waldorf. They’re the avalon’s resident manticores! They’ve been spotted on the rooftops in previous chapters, and were featured in a reader question too!
Wolpertinger painting!
Sheesh, somebody get those floofy boys a sammich.

One of the little details I love about this room is the simple and practical fact that the furniture doesn’t match. It reminds me of a certain Seattle restaurant I used to enjoy eating at.
