Sadly I don’t think the word “trauma bonding” would’ve been in their lexicon in like, 1999. 1999? pretty sure you got the wrong side of y2k there In universe it’s 2005. This probably happened in the 90s. Doesn’t mean the phenomena couldn’t still happen Probably. But it still happened. Like PTSD, people probably had that when we were still living in caves, just didn’t have a word for it.

Just noticed this and the previous RQs have lost a hundred to their title (94, when it should be 194). Well, that’s been fixed now.
