Dun-dun-duuuuhhhn. Foreshadowing!
Shouldn’t that be ‘come ‘ere Rupert’?
As someone from liverpool, come ‘ead is right! We say come ahead instead of come on a lot and its almost always with no ‘h’ so its a “come ‘ead lad”
As someone born and living in liverpool, come ‘ead is right! Scouse slang for come along is come ahead, but we always shorten it to “come ‘ead”. We shorten just about anything
> Shouldn’t that be “come ‘ere Rupert”
Nope! Second time they’ve used that particular bit of slang. I think it’s short for “come ahead”, but ultimately it just seems to mean “hurry up” or “keep up”.
Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!
Beware of the Jabberwock, boys! The jaws that banter! The claws that key! The ‘leet skillz!
Rupert: How did he get a SNES out here?
Jim: How’s he so good with those ruddy great claws??
Lorne: How… how’d you get Zangief to do that?
Jabberwock: That’s for me to know and you to find out, kiddo! *smug*
Lorne: I’ll be Blanka this time! You’re going down!
Rupert: We’re never getting out of here…
Jim: This Jabberwock’s too good at Street Fighter II! :-o
>:=)>
Nine year old Jim would be the kind of player who always picks Bison on Champion Edition, goes back and forth with the Psycho Crusher and thinks he’s God.
He’s such a chubby little buddy! I love ‘im!
Awww!
“The what??” doesn’t necessarily mean Lorne has never heard of Jabberwocks before. What you’re seeing is his realization that they might be real, and he might run into one.
Exactly.
He’s read both Alice books, so he’d have read the poem in the second book, ‘Jaberwocky’
He’s learned that Wonderland is a real place.
And now he’s learning and realising that other things Dodgson wrote of, are also real.
Ahahaha not ONE of the boys is touching the ground there in panel 6. They’re all on the move!
Gosh I hope we get more big panels to see Wonderland! I feel like I’m looking down a rabbithole and keep wanting to move my head around to see the rest of the place, as if in a VR headset instead of a tv screen….
Oh my gods, Kiddo Rupert is built like a Corgi! ADORABLE! A chunky, solid little Corgi… with a beak and some formidable claws.

Here’s the other time it was used: https://www.skindeepcomic.com/archive/obverse-reverse-ch2-page-5/

Or, if you want, …
Der Jammerwoch
Robert Scott
Es brillig war. Die schlichte Toven
Wirrten und wimmelten in Waben;
Und aller-mümsige Burggoven
Die mohmen Räth’ ausgraben.
»Bewahre doch vor Jammerwoch!
Die Zähne knirschen, Krallen kratzen!
Bewahr’ vor Jubjub-Vogel, vor
Frumiösen Banderschntzchen!«
Er griff sein vorpals Schwertchen zu,
Er suchte lang das manchsan’ Ding;
Dann, stehend unterm Tumtum Baum,
Er an-zu-denken-fing.
Als stand er tief in Andacht auf,
Des Jammerwochen’s Augen-feuer
Durch tulgen Wald mit Wiffek kam
Ein burbelnd Ungeheuer!
Eins, Zwei! Eins, Zwei! Und durch und durch
Sein vorpals Schwert zerschnifer-schnück,
Da blieb es todt! Er, Kopf in Hand,
Geläumfig zog zurück.
»Und schlugst Du ja den Jammerwoch?
Umarme mich, mien Böhm’sches Kind!
O Freuden-Tag! O Halloo-Schlag!«
Er schortelt froh-gesinnt.
Es brillig war. Die schlichte Toven
Wirrten und wimmelten in Waben;
Und aller-mümsige Burggoven
Die mohmen Räth’ ausgraben.
Oh my gosh, that is even more fun to recite than the English version!
Maybe we’ll see a Snark, so long as it isn’t a Boojum.
“The bowsprit got mixed with the rudder sometimes:”
Rupert’s lil feet in the first panel are just
Hnngh
I wanna eat them they’re so cute XD
… and you wonder why they keep Wonderland so well-hidden. >:->
His lil horn nubs are in fact moving with his expressions and emotions just like his dad’s! <3
Should they shun the Bandersnatch too, or is that only necessary when it’s frumious?
