Happy Birthday!

Also I could swear I remember a QA sketch of a bugbear the looked awful like that Scene Girl. Does anyone know for sure?

Okay, I am now almost certainly convinced that this Scene Girl may be that Qilin. The hair, the sleeves, the belt. There are too many parallels!

So why is she out there instead of going through the Avalon?

Abbie, Tims harpy wife, suggests that they have a way to contain “outsiders” to the bar. She says “the tunnel only goes here” when explaining the plan to Paul

So maybe they boarded up any doors to the Avalon once the tunnel was ready? Or pulled a trick similar to how the Avalon is hidden from passersby… (dark winding hallways and Alec haunting them xD)

Because she wants to take them to the Underground? Be weird if she’s with her outside-Avalon friends and then tells them to wait in a parking lot while she goes through a warehouse. “I’ll meet you inside” doesn’t really work since they might be turned away, and she also wants to prime them for what they’ll be seeing when her disguise drops.

Petition to have the cast page updated so that errybody on it has their species changed to “bloke wif extra bits”.

You know what I remember about raves and parties and clubs from 2006? Glow sticks. Frickin’ glow sticks. Everywhere, every size. Dudes making chain maille out of the flexible ones. Girls hanging em in their hair. Just frickin glowsticks as far as the eye could see.

God I miss it for some reason.

I didn’t do raves and parties and clubs back then (Was about to start my second Uni degree, had just broken up, and was dead broke) but I do remember that everyone, including dead broke me, had a digital camera or camcorder, and an iPod. I think they were starting to put cameras on phones before then too. I have photos of that time and they’re all terrible pixelated early-digital-camera stuff.

… with all due respect, Kory, you haven’t gained as much as a day on me … >:->

“Hap Birth” [link], as the young-at-mind say … ;-)

How old are you?

… I dropped below 1.5 Korys three years ago, why … ? :-3

Wait, I’m bad at math. Is 1.5 Korys 45 or 60?

So, Kory, a little bird told me you just turned 40. (Don’t worry, I ate it.)

I remember when I lived in Commerce, TX and my neighbor turned 40 and invited me over for barbecue.

His wife asked, “So, how does it feel to be 40?” He replied, “I don’t feel 40. I guess it’s true, you’re only as old as you feel.”

His very precocious 12-year-old son, who was watching Babylon 5, said: “I feel 16. Can I borrow the car?” ROFLMAO!

Remember, balance is important. A forkful of cake, a forkful of ice cream, a forkful of cake, a forkful of ice cream…

When I graduated high school, we could still Mt. St. Helens from my home town on a clear day. (And I don’t mean the tiny bits that went far away.)

I have a coozie that says, “It’s weird being the same age as old people,” and another that says, “Being a functional adult every day seems a bit excessive.”

Look on the bright side. If the kids in your comic are old enough to drink, they’re all going on 40 right now too.

With this comic happening near the end of October 2006, Michelle is about five weeks past her 21st birthday (and she was already legal to drink in the U.K., if I’m not mistaken).

And, of course the youngsters are approaching 40; none of them are going the other way!

Her mention of “Crime Alley” reminded me of a streamable TV show I recently discovered: Liverpool 1. It’s a police procedural about a fictional Merseyside vice squad. Seasons 1 & 2 were originally aired in ’98 & ’99, respectively. Of course it has no connection to this story except the general setting, including scenes on or near the river.

I would not be surprised to learn that it was still in reruns in ’05 & 06. At the very least, I would expect it to be part of the local cultural literacy.
