This art is from the character sheet I made for Michelle for this comic arc because I knew I was gonna need to keep track of all her charms. Ever since Vera flat out told her that her charms were working she’s been loading up.

… do these charms need to be visible to work, rather than sitting in a pocket or somesuch? I mean, to someone who knows what they are, Michelle must now look as inconspicuous as someone in full police riot gear to us …
…but then again, the luck part, that someone would probably see a totally interesting bird or whatever that very moment instead of laying eyes on Meesh…
(also, we had characters both good and “bad” who recognised her collection of luck charms immediately, the bad ones chalking their failure up to them previously as well…)
Probably not, but the way she’s wearing these will stay with her between forms, so if she goes sphinx and her pants evaporate they won’t wind up on the ground.
Here’s a question! What would Michelle look like as a dragon?
It’s been done. I have to go to work soon so I don’t have time to trawl through the Reader Question archive to link it, but it’s been done.

That is when it was done! I had time to trawl through.
Oh hey, Bloodcarver Sphinx has a VERY handsome mustache like a new character we’ve seen!
Holy crap, the weight of wearing a horseshoe in your *hair*… ow ow ow ow ow ow ow…
If I tried to install a horseshoe in my wife’s hair, she’d bop me with it.
Imagine it turns out that having too many good luck charms at once cancels them out.
Feel free to delete this after you read it because it could be pedantic and annoying but it’s nazar. Nazor is a croatian poet.
Is the sator square intentionally imperfect?
No i just can’t spell lol
I feel you. I’ve had that moment where I go “Crap! I’m never doing something this complicated again!” *instantly does something even more complex*
This is incredibly detailed. How many of these are YOU wearing?
Gotta keep safe now that we know demons AND Dis Pater loyal dragons are after us!
Doesn’t the weight of all those charms in her hair, especially the horseshoe, hurt? Or is at least super umcomfortable…
How did Michelle get Eustace’s fur and Marshall’s feather? Did they come visit her in Liverpool? XD I bet Eustace didn’t like the flight over AT ALL.
She got them all the way back at the end of Orientations V

At some point, magic-physics says Michelle will run into diminishing returns…
“Sator, arepo, tenet opera rotas” – “Sator, the arable farmer, always works hard at the wheel”.
Prior to WWII, there might have been a fylfot or hakenkreutz among the symbols – it had the same attributes of bringing good luck and warding off evil, but the mad little Austrian with the mad little moustache adopted it as his symbol, and damned it by association.
Wow, first time learning about the Sator square – now the movie Tenet and the “God of Arepo” tumblr story make a lot more sense! Neat!
