Are you ready for: GRYPHON WEEK?

Y’all seem to like gryphon week, which is great because I like drawing gryphons. I imagine this critter is like one of those old ratty street cats that’s very friendly but you can’t tell if it’s a year old or a thousand years old and it’s very greasy and dirty and gross and you don’t want to touch it but also it’s VERY friendly.

Really? We couldn’t go more than five days without a gryphon week? I’m so tired of gryphon week.

“Gripe-on week”? We just had 5 days without gryphon week ;-)

The last gryphon week was at the end of december.

In Memory of Timmy, a humpback whale stranded for some six weeks who had just given Germany (and its tabloids) a very dramatic and emotionally intense month, but died after his “rescue” anyways ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timmy_(whale) ), and is now being eaten by the local seagull population: What would a gryphon mix of humpback whale and -Steve Seagull- erm, I mean a seagull look like?

Oooh gryphon week!!!!
-a starling/serval? Pretty spots reverse in colour
-Big weirdo: pelican/porcupine
-Marbled polecat/california quail (stout cutie)
-skunk/hoatzin (stinky)
-ribbon seal/albatross or gannet or snowy owl (artic pretties)
-ring tailed lemur/sickle-billed vanga (madagascar!)
Asked paleo partner and she says:
-titanis/arctodus (BIG)
-moa/thylacine
-indricotherium/dromornis (BIG BIG)
Some cheating ones:
-yi qi/ volaticotherium (weird wing things)
-tupandactylus (it has feathers!!) / sterapodon
-leptictidium/ patagopteryx

Okay, that really is pretty adorable. Also? It’s only a matter of time before they crossbreed with raccoons.

SPEAKING OF WHICH, as a born and bred Florida native, I *have* to ask about a raccoon/seagull gryphon cross. Two great natural survivors: a seaside vulture and a free-range scavenger! Might be horrifying, might be stunningly beautiful and graceful. Might also be pretty intelligent, living in people’s attics and stealing their wifi.

Australian gryphons? Would love to see some Australian gryphons. Kangaroo/cassowary? Koala/cockatoo? Numbat/honeyeater? Wallaby/galah? Wombat/kookaburra? Dingo/bin chicken (Australian white ibis)? Tasmanian devil/magpie?! There are some truly wild possibilities! :D

Forgot to mention: I love that your Pigeokitty has a clipped ear. XD Also, I keep thinking of a Victorian saying of “THAT’LL put the cat among the pigeons!” (meaning, “well, that’s gonna get somebody upset, won’t it? And about time, too!”) Very Regency.

Love it~ But, the tipped ear might mean that our little pigeon-kitty is subject to trap-neuter-release; they usually ear tip cats they do this to so they can save time and avoiding catching the same slinky little varmint. :P

With that tidbit in mind, I have a question: how often do “normal animal”-passing mythics just, well, pass as house pets or farm beasts and just give up on being people? Free meals, no bills, and spending the holidays tricking your elderly roommate’s grandchildren into thinking you’re either magical or demonic in nature. Heck, you can even be one of those advice-giving “pets”, a la “Puss in Boots”.
