Also, how does ‘giving up’ a medallion work? Do you get to choose if you’re human or your species? Is there anything specific you have to do?
Apparently, the medallion’s magic is able to detect the conscious decision to relinquish it, making it available to someone else. At the same time, it apparently tags the relinquisher with a blacklist mark so that no other medallion will ever work for them. And since the purpose of a medallion is to create a human disguise for a nonhuman, giving up the medallion means giving up the chance to look human. That IS the choice.
That comic panel is so old, both in-universe and in real life… Wow, time sure does fly by.
Some irl birds can see ultraviolet light. Can gryphons?
If a mythical has some sort of extra sensory powers, such as super hearing, do they still have it when they are using their medallion to appear human? Or is it human form = human level senses? (honestly that would be an absolute mindbender to lose extra senses)
Is using a medallion a conscious action requiring concentration to maintain, or is it more like a light-switch with a dimmer that one can turn on or off and then adjust as needed?
We’ve seen that traditionally children are given their medallions when they turn 10 years old. Are there any communities that differ from this tradition? Would an individual that has had access to a medallion since infancy have any extra advantages in control over one that got theirs when they were 10?
Do medallions have a magical aura or “scent” that can be sensed by those attuned to magic?
Has there ever been someone that has taken an unassigned medallion and tried to trigger fullform transformations in unsuspecting unturned humans? Similar as what happened to Tony, but on purpose to sow chaos? I mean, there has been 50+ generations since medallions were put out into the world, so there has GOT to be a boatload of unturned mythicals thinking they are vanilla humans.
Which leads to the next question: how much mythical blood in your family line is required to allow a medallion to work, and at what point is there just not enough? Clearly not a whole lot since Michelle is the first “outed” sphynx in 1000 years?
To your last question, I’ve been assuming that the offspring of a medallioned mythic and a human has 50% of being human and 50% of being “fullblood” mythic. Like how the offspring of 2 medallioned mythics of otherwise-incompatible species have a 50% chance of each. But I guess that’s never actually been stated.
If a natural shapeshifter shifts into full human form and mates with a true human, I have no idea.

I am curious, do some of the super-powerful mythicals exist as super rare or extinct species? Such as Typhon, Echidna, Xie Zhu, Quetzalcoatl, Leviathan, Ziz, Smerg, etc.?
That also begs the question if any of Lovecraft’s monsters were real or not I guess?
