Shapeshifting is an ability that varies in different species! Some can only shapeshift a little, like nixies and nokks, and some can turn into practically anything, like pucas. There’s also difference between physical shapeshifters and magical shapeshifters, like totems. Magical shapeshifters don’t have to go through weird creepy midway shifts like the physical ones.

I’m wondering if the young Buggane is Cy, or a younger Lee.

I’m not sure if the Liverpool Avalon needs a fancy restaurant with a púca chef. On one hand they’re supposed to be great chefs, at least in their own communities. On the other hand they supposedly either spit or poop on crops or berries they’ve claimed so that Humans won’t eat them. :-o
Lol, I would love to see that chef Puca. Since they can shapeshift, I got this funny mental image of the chef transforming into a giant fly when costumers are about to complain. He/She would walk right up them in that form and go, “Is there a problem?”
Quick question: what IS a monster, as in a definition used here?
Magical beings whose inner magic is incompatible with pendant magic.
It doesn’t have to be incompatible. The word can refer to any magical/mythical species that doesn’t have medallions for whatever reason.
